1973年，五岁的席琳·迪翁参加了当地举办的一个法国传统歌谣大赛，有了首次公开表演的经验。1980年，席琳·迪翁的母亲为她创作了法语歌曲《Ce Netait Quun Reve》，并将其录制成样带寄给经纪人雷尼·安杰利，雷尼现场聆听了席琳·迪翁的清唱后，他预见这个小女孩日后一定会有所成就并赞助她灌录了第一张专辑。1981年6月19日，席琳·迪翁登上米歇尔·贾斯敏的脱口秀节目，首次在电视上亮相。
